The best Easter in my life!

7-days of easter break in Spain was ALL i needed
- it was all about the Sun, Tapas and Sangria ;)
6 mths in bloody dull London hasnt done much good to my energy level
so that came at the best time to perk me up!

I dragged my completely exhausted body (after a tiring week at work)
to the foreign land of Granada yet again
for the third time to be exact,
it felt familiar but yet that sense of new surroundings still intrigued me
this was the best visit thus far
I could almost find my own way round the city now
I recognised landmarks, and streets
and I knew which were my favourite places that I wanted to visit again n again..

We spent most of our time, just chilling in tapas bars
under the sun, alfresco, watching how life passes us by..
- aft 6 mths of NO sun,
i was willing to sit under the hot sun even if my head was bursting into flames
I finally got my tan back!!!!!!
(before Bing sneers again) it's not only abt the tan!
it just feels sooo good going under the sun again,
getting that energy back
feeling revitalised...
you guys shld really treasure the weather in Singapore man..

We visited all my favourite places again
that cafe at the Mirador (look-out place with an incredible view of the city)
the streets lined with Arabic teterias - Granada is highly influenced by Moroccan culture due to their proximity
-we went to a tapas bar along that street and just watched how the gypsies n hippies play drums n make merry
the Paseo de tristes - the bohemian street beside the river

this time round, we spent 2 days in Alberto's beach apartment!
was an hr away from the city, in Salobrena
and it just seemed a lifetime since I've been to the beach
(i know im exaggerating but the beach is my life! )
the winds were alil strong, but we had so much fun just talking , at the beach bar
and making our own dinner n
laughing at spanish tv shows in the cosy beach apartment ;)
One of the best nights was spent in a bar/club with Alberto's pals
the freakos were soooo hilarious,
just talked abt loadsa weird stuff to me, made me laugh
was great that they were drunk! lol
if not they wont be talking to me much in their limited English
really had a fun night cos they made that effort to talk to me,
n they'r just so much fun n laughter

Most importantly, we managed to catch one of the last Holy Week Processions!
it's one of the most celebrated festival in Spain, or rather countries with Catholic beliefs
I never knew Spanish are so religious
but it was very interesting to watch the processions up close
how the hoodies (pple dressed in gowns, n tall sharp hats
- in disguise to cover their sins n ask God for forgiveness)
and the people carrying the statue of Virgin Mary
marched down the streets, year after year
to commemorate the rising of Jesus Christ after death..

Really enjoyed the trip
but once again, it's back to reality - work again in London
Oh! but we just moved to our new home last weekend
sooooooooooooooo happy in our new place,
it's much more spacious,
bt we'r paying only a tad bit more than wat we used to
instead of a tiny 25x25sq metres studio,
we have a living room, a bedrm,
a kitchen n a bathroom (with our fav bathtub! )
and now we reeally have a home. ;)

Life's gooooooooooood....

P.S. I'm going to a new club launch this Fri with my asian frens yipppeedeebaaadooooo

Easter long weekend - just came at the right time!

Ahhh... the long weekend has finally arrived
it hasnt been too long since my last break
but the hectic work just has taken a toll on everyone
pheewww... just came back from drinks with my colleagues at the local pub
Rat and Parrot - everyone goes there, we'r almost sick of that place already
anyhow, the best way to end the week -with a pint of beer
ahhh..

Tomorrow we'r jetting off to Granada yet again
Hopefully my newly improved Spanish might do me some good in that foreign, yet familiar land
it's my third time there now
maybe it'll feel like home someday
but home will always will in the far east
I miss all my frens and family!!!
Just called bing and Jol, and they were in MOS!
soo jealous...just missed that kinda clubbin, drinking, nite out sigh

Got a call from my sis!!!
I've got accepted by University of London QueenMary college?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
tooooo shocked man..how can that possibly be?! hmm
anyhow, now's the time to think if i can afford it..sigh
but im just sooooo happy ;)
Tom suggested a celebration after that, so we hit the pub
didnt have much drinks thou
wooo hafta start packing everything now
we'r moving next wkend!!
when we come back from Spain
we'll be moving to our new home!!!!

Soooooooooooo much stuff to look forward to in my life now
im glad we found the new place
it's much more reasonable in terms of the rent
we just pay 30 pounds more per week/each, and we get 3 times the space
now we have a living room, a bedrm, a kitchen n a bathrm with bathtub!! yay
althou it's not as convenient in location as where we'r living now
but who cares?!

I'm just glad life's going well now
just pray that it'll stay this way
Thank you God.

Immersing in new thots

Havent done much thinking since I´ve been here,
or rather haven´t had the time to myself, to stop and think
remember I used to stare into space all the time
and my mind´s like a horse, running wildly in infinite space

Was on the bus home, from the university
really exhausted from a long day, esp a hectic day at work
A Chinese couple was sitting infronta me
both were in their late 20s
but yet, I was eavesdropping on their conversations
and the lady was going on and on, abt how pple dress and talk here
conservative, narrow minded ideas...it reminded me of how i didnt like the culture back at home
At least Singapore´s not as bad as the traditional chinese

It got me thinking of my conversations with the Asians I´ve met
and it just dawned on me
how when we met, there´s this natural instinct to kinda judge how westernised this asian is
i seem to give pple the impression that i am very westernised,
perhaps due to my open mind,
but somehow, i liked my conversations with Jeremy
it kinda opened up the chinese in me,
there´s always this balance
no matter how influenced you have been by other culture,
there´s always this tradition in you
i like the way I am.

Last Friday was a hilarious episode
met up with Suzy, one of the Asians, and we had loadsa drinks
Ruben came to join us at Chiquitos, a mexican joint in central
and it was soo fun laughing at our stoopid accents
and missing home food...ahh...
then Alberto came to join us, while we were away
a weird brit guy started talking to Suzy
and he had this huge head, with funny hair, and was so self conscious
anyhow, he just made us laugh all the way
thou i didnt like how the nite turned out hmm..

It´s been a fruitful week
I like my spanish classes
Evening class in the university keeps my brain working
if not it´s gona be stagnant from the monotously hectic work
Clinical chemistry can be soooooooo tuff, need to read up loads bt been too lazy..

Oh! and i was in high spirits yesterday (of cos, was dampened by hazel today)
had soo many reasons to be.
My 7'days leave for May has been approved, and
we booked our tix to Crete, Greece!!!!! yodelllehooohoo
one of my dreams....we´r gg island hopping to Santorini, Mykonos n Athens!
and Easter´s coming soon, which means Hazel´s off the whole of next week(happiest thing)
and we´r gg to Spain, alberto´s home again!
Yeh, i know everyone thinks how do i afford all the travelling..
i feel bad abt not contributing to my family sigh..
we both dont earn much,
but i guess we eat at home everyday, we havent got much of a social life with others
and we dont spend too much on entertainment
that´s how we save up to travel, travel, travel

I love a life with an aim
thou not exactly an ambitious aim
but life´s more than materialistic achievements, it´s abt chasing ur dreams.
AND im so glad all my frens n my sis are getting nearer to their dreams
Salud!
